The Magic Fountain of Montjuic
The magic fountain is a magnificant display of colours, bright lights, magical motions and music.
Barcelona’s Magic Fountain is located at the foot of the steps up to the Museum of Catalan Art (Museo National del Arte de Catalunya) on Montjuic mountain. The fountain’s first performance was on May 19, 1929. Designer Carles Buigas submitted his plans one year before and many thought that the project was too ambitious to be created, let alone completed on time.
Over 3000 workers were commissioned to work on the project and in less than 1 year later the magic fountain was born.
Lights, colour, music, water…action! Montjuic’s Magic Fountain has it all.
Location: Placa Espanya (Green Line, L3) and (Red Line, L1).

October to April
Fridays and Saturdays
Music sessions: 19:00 19:30 20:00 20:30
Summer: (May to September)
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Music Sessions: 21:30 22:00 22:30 23:00 23:30
Closed: The magic fountain does not operate on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday´s throughout the year.
Entrance Fee: Free
